Regarding sizing, I recommend going up at least one size, especially if you have a high instep. The upper of this shoe is quite thick and not very soft, which can press against the instep. As for the issue of rubbing, I saw it mentioned in the reviews, so I always wear socks when trying them on. With socks, I didn't experience any rubbing.
